Louise Ridley is an award-winning freelance journalist who was Special Projects Editor at HuffPost UK and News Editor, Longform and Special Projects for BuzzFeed UK. She specialises in editing and writing longform and news features, especially about media, social affairs and gender. She has run special journalism series covering topics including housing, disability and connecting with grassroots voices around the UK. With other female journalists, she created The Second Source, a group tackling sexual harassment in the media and supporting women journalists. She was a finalist in the Women of the Future awards 2017 and named as one of The Drum magazine’s ’50 Under 30′ list of women in digital 2015. She was shortlisted for Digital Journalist of the Year at the AOP Awards 2016 and won New Consumer Specialist Journalist of the Year at the PPA New Talent Awards 2012. She is a MA journalism lecturer at Birkbeck University and has appeared on media such as BBC News, 5 News and LBC as a media commentator.
